Grilled Hamburgers

Ingredients

For  Single recipe    (4 quarter-pound patties)

Instructions

  1. Mix hamburger, onion, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper together. Hands are the best tool for this job.
  2. Based on how much meat you have and how many patties you plan to cook, divide the meat into equally sized balls.
  3. Flatten each ball to form a patty that will be about ¼ to ½-inch thick.
  4. Place the patties on a pizza pan that has been covered with a sheet of waxed paper.
  5. Heat the grill to medium-high.
  6. Brush the top of the patties with vegetable oil.
  7. Sprinkle each patty with a dash of salt and ground black pepper.
  8. Using a spatula, place the patties on the grill with the oiled side facing down.
  9. Grill the patties for 2 to 3 minutes.
  10. Do not overcook. Remember that the patties will cook even after they have been removed from the grill.
  11. Brush oil on the top of the patties.
  12. Flip the patties over and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes.
  13. Turn off the grill.
  14. If you are adding cheese to the patties, place 1 slice on each patty.
  15. Let the patties sit on the grill for 20 seconds to allow the cheese to melt.
  16. Remove patties from grill.
  17. Serve.

Comments

Use a ground hamburger with at least 15% fat content. This will yield a nice juicy burger.

Burgers will shrink and become thicker as they cook.

Cooking time will vary according to the thickness of the patty.
